Fluoroscopy Services and Procedures offered by West Houston Radiology

  • Barium Enema (BE) Lower GIfluoro
  • Cystogram
  • Hysterosalpingogram
  • Upper Gastrointestinal Exam (Upper GI)/Modified Barium Swallow (MBS)

Barium Enema(BE) – Barium contrast is instilled into the colon to evaluate for abnormalities of the lining of the colon, including polyps and cancer.

Cystogram – Liquid contrast material is instilled into the urinary bladder to evaluate for abnormalities of the lining of the urinary bladder or reflux into the ureters. Also used to assess for leakage after surgery or injury.

Hysterosalpingogram – Contrast is injected into the cervix and uterus during real time x-ray in order to evaluate the lining of the uterus and fallopian tubes. Commonly used to assess tubal patency for patients experiencing issues with infertility.

Upper Gastrointestinal Exam ( Upper GI)/Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) – Liquid contrast material is ingested during real-time x-ray to evaluate for abnormalities of the lining of the esophagus, stomach, and small bowel such as ulcers or cancer. Also commonly performed after esophageal or gastric surgeries to assess for leakage or obstruction.
